How do you start hydroponic farming?

You can start with growing equipment on day one by selecting Hydroponic Farmer among the nine starting scenarios, or unlock farming mid-run through Joe Wild’s network.

Each Hydroponic System needs a seed (or spores or beans), water and power to run overnight. Keep a water jug and charged energy cells by the planters so you do not sell the irrigation supply during the day.

Which crops can you grow in a Hydroponic System?

The player-tested base harvest figures in the recipes and items table cover seven hydroponic entries. Plant traits modify the actual yield you collect:

Pair Hydroreed with the water purification guide when the tank should clean water while another line pays the bills.

How do plant traits and Green Thumb work?

Crops are not locked to their base harvest numbers. Inspecting seeds and improving plant traits lets you raise yield or produce oversized harvests.

Harvesting a Huge Nutrifruit unlocks Green Thumb on the Steam achievements list. Ordinary Nutrifruit still sells. Keep Nutrifruit seeds if you have not grown a Huge one yet.

Should you sell crops raw or process them?

Sell Kotton Fiber or Nutrifruit while you are still building a rent reserve. Once that reserve is safe, send Bloomberry fruit to winemaking and Dream Cap or Coffee Beans to the lab.
