Probably Stolen Water Purification Guide (1.0.0.2)

Test water, choose tablets and filters, use the reworked purifier and plan purity with post-1.0.0.2 prices and an editable calculator.

How do you start purifying water?

Start with a test strip, a water container, a pitcher and a usable filter. Test → treat → test again → label → sell is the routine to learn. A label describes the contents; it does not clean them.

Add purification tablets, then pour the water through a Water Pitcher fitted with a Water Filter. Pour the treated liquid through the pitcher and into your selling container. Keep a spare filter and preserve the large jug you use for processing. Test purchased water before committing to a large lot.

Early batches are about making useful stock consistently. Do not spend your rent reserve chasing the highest grade before you can finish an ordinary batch. See making money for the costs that belong in the margin.

What changed in 1.0.0.2?

The official water hotfix reworks the Water Purifier’s logic. It also changes two important purchase prices:

Equipment Before After 1.0.0.2
Moisture Farm 650 350
Water Filter 50 25

Dr. Jackson’s markup on Normal falls from 25% to 15%. These are separate changes: the equipment price in a patch note and a vendor’s final offer are different things. Read the offer before buying. The full 1.0.0.2 patch guide covers the accompanying fixes.

Which purity grade do you have?

Water has six purity grades:

Grade Purity
Gutterflow Below 90%
Rustwater 90% to below 96%
Ghostwater 96% to below 98%
Basewater 98% to below 99%
High-Quality 99% to below 99.9%
Pure Water 99.9% and above

Use a strip to identify the batch; use an AquaScan when you need its composition. Water that looks clean can still be Ghostwater.

How do you use the reworked Water Purifier?

Load a container and power before sleeping. Read Max Purity and Contaminant Removed (Last Night) on its tooltip. The machine shares a removal budget across contaminants, handling minerals, chemicals and heavy metals last. Performance affects removal; Quality affects the purity limit. Without Quality modules, the cap is 99%; a +100 Quality setup reaches 99.9%.

Treat that final stretch separately from the first dirty batch. A previous night’s removal amount is a useful measurement, not a promise that every later night removes the same amount. If the result is at the machine’s cap, repeating the same setup will not raise it further.

Can you calculate a better blend or the next cycle?

Use the water purity calculator to compare two measured batches or model a chosen conversion amount. It keeps every volume, purity, removal amount and machine cap editable. Mixing clean and dirty water redistributes contaminants; it does not destroy them.

For selling, test the result after processing and apply its actual grade. Keep production water separate from sale stock so you do not accidentally sell the container needed by another machine. The recipes and items table helps compare equipment and other uses for your stock.
