Probably Stolen Gunsmith Guide: 3D Printer, Permits and Orders
Run a Gunsmith shop in Probably Stolen using the 3D Printer instruction note, weapon recipe chips, firearm modifications and Security permits.
How do you start gunsmithing?
Choose the Gunsmith starting scenario to enter the weapons trade on day one, or pick it up later through Joe Wild’s network. Hotfix 1.0.0.2 includes the instruction note on that start’s 3D Printer. Check the right side of the machine window before the first batch.
Firearms and ammunition draw more attention than household goods. Before placing weapons in the display case, check your current Security standing and contraband storage so an early inspection does not confiscate your working stock.
What can you make in the 3D Printer?
The 3D Printer runs overnight when loaded with an energy cell, a matching recipe chip and the required materials. Player-tested chip recipes in the recipes and items table include:
| Output | Chip inputs | Batch quantity | Base value each |
|---|---|---|---|
| Liberator pistol | 2 filament | 1 | 40 |
| Liberator pistol (double chip) | 3 filament | 2 | 40 |
| .22 Magazine | 1 filament | 2 | 15 |
| High Capacity .22 Magazine | 2 filament | 2 | 25 |
| Extended .22 Magazine | 3 filament | 2 | 35 |
| 10mm Magazine | 3 scrap | 2 | 30 |
| High Capacity 10mm Magazine | 2 scrap | 1 | 40 |
| Extended 10mm Magazine | 3 scrap | 1 | 50 |
| Improved Internal Springs | 2 scrap | 4 | 20 |
| Makeshift Red Dot Sight | 1 filament + 1 common electronics | 4 | 25 |
| Toy Laser Pointer | 1 filament + 1 common electronics | 4 | 18 |
| Small Plastic Bottle | 1 filament | 6 | 4 |
| Laser Sight | 2 scrap + 1 common electronics | 2 | 50 |
| Red Dot Sight | 3 scrap + 1 common electronics | 2 | 60 |
| Suppressor | 5 scrap | 2 | 55 |
Leave enough empty grid space inside the printer for the finished items, and check power and modules before running multi-item batches overnight.
How do dismantling, repairs and custom orders work?
Used firearms and attachments do not have to be sold as-is:
- Inspect condition and compatibility: Check the weapon’s current condition tier and which attachment slots it accepts.
- Dismantle or refurbish: Break an unwanted ordinary firearm down with a Screwdriver for gun parts. Spare parts can raise a worn weapon’s condition before you sell it.
- Match the request: Some buyers want a weapon with specific modifications. Add the price of the base gun to the prices of the requested sight, magazine and muzzle attachment, then compare the total with the customer’s budget before assembling the order.
If the combined cost of the gun and its mods exceeds what the buyer can pay, save the attachments for a higher-budget visitor.
How do weapon permits affect inspections?
Without the right firearm permit, weapons and ammunition count as restricted stock on a Security check. High Security reputation eases inspections. Very low Security can end the run.
Keep unpermitted weapons in a Smuggler Bay, off the open shelves. Read the factions guide before a deal that drops your Security standing.
